What to do if you've picked your gel polish off at home

SO YOU’VE PICKED OFF YOUR GEL POLISH. NOW WHAT?

You reeeeaaaally shouldn’t pick your gel polish, but we totally get it. When your manicure has expired and your gel starts to peel, it’s basically akin to saying don’t pop that zit. Once you see it and feel it, you can’t forget about it. The struggle is real. But you should really try to resist, because picking off gel polish can be seriously harmful to your nails, so it’s better to follow the proper removal procedures we use here at Nourish.

Now! If you are reading this and thinking “ya, ya, ya”, you’ve likely ‘been there, done that’. So what do you do if you’ve already picked it off?

Well, your nails have been damaged, so they need time to repair. By picking and peeling off gel polish you are not only removing the gel, but also the top layers of your nails, rendering them weak and prone to cracking.

Gently buff your nails. This will smooth out the nail plate and prevent any further peeling.

Hydrate! You should always moisturize your nails, cuticles and the area around them, but it’s even more important once you’ve picked off a gel manicure. We recommend SpaRitual’s Cuti-Cocktail for your cuticles and Protein Boost to hydrate and condition your nails to prevent them from continued breaking. We can hook you up 😉

P.S. did you know that gel polish removal is free when you’ve had your gel mani at Nourish and you are having another mani with us? Uh huh. #Truth.
